My Story

Some people find their calling. Mine found me — written in the skin I was once ashamed to show the world.

I wasn’t always passionate about skincare. In fact, for a long time, my skin was my greatest source of pain. Born with sensitive skin, I spent years navigating products that weren’t made for me — until one reaction changed everything. In my late twenties, a popular fragranced body wash triggered a severe allergic response that left me with Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) covering nearly 90 percent of my torso. Dark, stubborn discoloration that no doctor seemed equipped to treat. I wore long sleeves through entire summers. I covered my body with makeup just to feel normal.

What finally healed me wasn’t a prescription — it was an esthetician who specialized in treating people with deeper skin tones, paired with the research I threw myself into out of sheer desperation. Slowly, my skin began to heal. And as it did, something in me came alive.

That experience didn’t just give me my confidence back. It gave me my purpose.

In 2015, I completed my esthetics education at Citrus College in Glendora, CA and became a Licensed Aesthetician through the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. I also hold a B.S. in Biology from Clark Atlanta University — a foundation that has always grounded my approach in science, not guesswork.

What followed was a decade of hands-on mastery: building a clientele, teaching esthetics, earning my Certification in Makeup Artistry, becoming a SMARTSKNPRO Ambassador, and developing a deep specialization in the unique needs of deeper skin tones — hyperpigmentation, post-inflammatory marks, age reversal, and the ingredients that actually work for rich complexions.

In January 2021, I rebranded to Kristen Drayton Aesthetics — a name that better reflected the level of care, intention, and expertise I was bringing to every client.

Today, Kristen Drayton Aesthetics is a fully virtual luxury brand — and that was a deliberate choice.

Going virtual wasn’t a pivot born from limitation. It was a decision rooted in vision. Serving clients virtually means I can work with women across the country and around the world — women with deeper skin tones of every cultural background, who have been overlooked, misdirected, or sold products that simply weren’t designed for their skin. My programs aren’t quick fixes. They are structured, results-driven transformations built around the science of skin health and the power of self-investment.

Through The Skin Shift Method, my signature virtual coaching program, I guide professional women through a complete skin transformation — addressing hyperpigmentation, age reversal, and long-term skin health with a personalized, step-by-step approach.

Through Skin Deep Soul Sessions, I’ve created something I wish had existed for me — an intimate virtual space where skincare meets soulful wellness. Where we sip herbal tea, talk about what our skin is trying to tell us, practice mindfulness, and remember that radiant skin begins from within.

Through the Soul Shift Wellness Retreats, I bring women together in person for immersive experiences that integrate skincare education, holistic wellness, and the kind of deep self-reconnection that changes how you move through the world.

And through my YouTube channel, I’m building a growing community of women who are done guessing at their skincare — women who want real education, delivered in a way that respects both their intelligence and their time.

I am not just an esthetician. I am a skin wellness expert, a thought leader, and a voice for women with deeper complexions who have never seen themselves centered in luxury skincare spaces — until now.

My work is expanding. My certifications are growing. And my mission has never been more clear: to create a world where every woman with a rich complexion knows exactly what her skin needs, has access to expert guidance, and feels seen — fully, unapologetically seen — in her beauty.
